back to top Does AddressBook replace the default address book on my device?
No, AddressBook runs independently of your native address book.
back to top How do I move my contacts into AddressBook?
Contacts already on your phone are added into AddressBook automatically during installation. After installation, you can add or import contacts from contact management services such as Microsoft Outlook™, Yahoo! ™ and GMail™.
To add contacts manually — Tap the Plus sign in the upper right corner of the All Contacts page on your phone, or select ‘Add Contacts’ from the right menu on the website. Enter the contact details and save.
To import multiple contacts — Login to your AddressBook web account, click ‘Import Contacts’ in the upper right, and follow the instructions provided.
Exception #1 : On Android 2.0-based phones, if you have a Microsoft® Exchange account, you must first import your Outlook Exchange contacts to your Google Contacts account, where AddressBook automatically picks them up at the next sync.
Also: Android 2.0-based phones must also have Google Sync enabled. By default, it’s already enabled. But if it has been disabled, you can enable it again by tapping ‘Settings > Data Synchronization’ and checking the Contacts, Gmail, and Calendar options.
Exception #2: Android 2.0-based phones include a native Facebook.com app that adds Facebook Friend contacts to the native address book. However, it does not permit Asurion Mobile AddressBook to see those Facebook Friend contacts at this time. The MixIn for Facebook can still collect your Friends from your Facebook web account and match them to your existing phone contacts, as it does for Android 1.6-based phones. But it cannot see any contacts added by the native Facebook.com app on Android 2.0-based phones. If you add Facebook Friends to your AddressBook manually, the MixIn for Facebook can match them.
From your web account, you can set up your AddressBook and manage your AddressBook contacts (add, delete, edit, match, etc.). You can also manage your MixIns (install, uninstall, set up, enable, disable, etc.) To log in to your web account, use the phone number and password created during the AddressBook setup process.
MixIns are Android-based applications that work within your AddressBook to link your favorite social networking media – like Facebook®, Twitter™, YouTube™ – with your online community of friends and colleagues on your mobile phone. Get your friends’ twitters as they tweet, play a game of chess with friends, find the nearest Starbucks and much more. View the full list of available MixIns here.

back to top Why doesn’t MixIn for Facebook get the Friends in the native address book?
If you have an Android 2.0-based phone, it includes a Facebook.com application that adds Facebook Friends as contacts to the native phone address book. However, it does not permit the Asurion Mobile AddressBook to read those Facebook Friends contacts at this time.
The Asurion Mobile MixIn for Facebook can still collect your Friends from your Facebook account and match them to your existing phone contacts, just as it does for Android 1.6-based phones. But it cannot see any contacts added by the native Facebook.com app. If you add Facebook Friends to your AddressBook manually, the MixIn for Facebook can find and match them.
back to top Why doesn’t Chess install on my Android 2.0-based phone from the website?
The Chess MixIn is not currently supported on Android 2.0-based phones. The website may appear to start installing it, but it will not complete the process because the Chess MixIn is not available for Android 2.0 phones.

back to top I am seeing some duplicate contacts. Why and how do I remove?
If you import a CSV file that contains duplicate contacts, AddressBook compares the contact information. On rare occasions, duplicate contacts may have enough unique criteria that AddressBook treats the contacts as different. In that case, simply delete the extras:
From the AddressBook contact list, tap the extra contact to open it.
From the contact screen, tap the phone Menu tab.
Tap ‘Delete Contact’ and confirm.
When I switch to landscape mode, the screen stays in portrait mode. Why?
Landscape mode is not available on some AddressBook screens.
back to top Can I instant message from AddressBook?

Also, if you have an IM client installed on your phone, you may be able to instant message from AddressBook using AIM, Windows Live, and Yahoo Messenger as well.
back to top Can I use AddressBook and Google Sync at the same time?
If your phone uses Android 1.6, we recommend that you also use Google Sync for contact lists of fewer than 500 contacts. However, if you have more than 500 contacts, we strongly recommend disabling Google Contact Sync.
With large numbers of contacts, and as of the 1.6 Android release, Google Contact Sync can interfere with and slow down AddressBook’s MixIn installation and auto-matching processes, as well as the use of your AddressBook web account to manage contacts. You can disable Google Contact Sync in your phone by tapping ‘Settings > Data Synchronization’ and unchecking the Contacts option.
Note: We are currently working with Google to add programmatic support on Android to pause Google Sync in the future so AddressBook can be fully compatible.
back to top Can I use AddressBook with my Exchange account?
Currently, if you have Outlook Exchange on an Android 2.0 phone, you must first add the Exchange contacts to Google Contacts, where AddressBook picks them up automatically during the next sync. Otherwise, AddressBook cannot currently see these contacts.
Yes, you can do this from your AddressBook web account. Simply click the ‘Export Contacts’ button in the upper right, and your entire contact list is instantly converted to a CSV file (Microsoft Office Excel Comma Separated Values File) that you can save and open.
