Steve Pretre, General Manager

As General Manager of Asurion Mobile Applications, Steve leads a team of cutting-edge mobile software professionals focused on delivering value to our subscribers and carrier partners through product innovation and quality service. Prior to joining Asurion, he was Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for Risk Management Solutions. In addition, Steve has held a variety of product management and marketing leadership positions at early and mid stage software firms. Steve has an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar, as well as a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an AB in Economics from Stanford University.

Nancy Benovich Gilby, Vice-President of Engineering

Nancy brings over 20 years of successful startup experience to Asurion Mobile Applications as VP of Engineering. Prior to joining AMA, Nancy co-founded and served as CEO of PocketThis. Before that she co-founded and was VP of Engineering and Product Management at MarketSoft. She has helped raise eight rounds of venture funding and has developed a unique, integrated approach to company and market development.  This approach has generated three case studies at the Harvard Business School.  Nancy's leadership in product strategy and development contributed to another four successful companies, including Firefly, purchased by Microsoft; Wildfire, purchased by Orange; Component Software, co-founder, folded into Sun to become what is Java today; and On Technology, a successful public company. Nancy holds an M.S.E. and a B.S.E. from the University of Michigan and is a featured speaker at MIT Sloan School’s entrepreneurial conference.

Mark Romer, Senior Director, Business Operations

Mark is responsible for carrier-facing activities at Asurion Mobile Applications. In this capacity, Mark leads product management, product marketing and business development for the mobile applications business unit. Most recently, Mark led new product development and strategy for Good Technology’s entry into the consumer market prior to its acquisition by Motorola.  Mark also held product management roles at Siebel Systems and Netscape / America Online. Mark has BS and MS degrees from Stanford University, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Garrett Larsson, Director, Product Development and Management

As Director, Product Development and Management, Garrett drives new carrier partner launches with Asurion’s data backup products, as well as new product and feature development.  Garrett joined Asurion in 2006 after Asurion’s purchase of Lumitrend where he was a co-founder.  At Lumitrend Garrett helped develop the original backup product and was responsible for securing product distribution on over 25 carriers worldwide.  Garrett has previously worked at Qualcomm, Slam Dunk Networks, and Cisco.  He earned his BS in Computer Science from Stanford University.
